Biological activity

It belongs to next groups of Bioreference compounds:
Target:

Enzymes    Dehydrogenase    Nuclear Receptors (nuclear hormone receptors)    Progesterone receptor    Androgen receptor

Description:

(-) - Norgestrel is a synthetic progesterone analog and the biologically active component of norgestrel, which is a racemic mixture. Levonorgestrel prevents pregnancy by inhibiting ovulation and by causing the cervical mucous to thicken, which makes it harder for sperm to move toward the uterus. Levonorgestrel exhibits approximately three-times higher binding affinity than progesterone for the progesterone receptor.

Targets:Progesterone receptor, 3-oxo-5-alpha-steroid 4-dehydrogenase 1, Androgen receptorG/H synthase 1
