Biological activity

It belongs to next groups of Bioreference compounds:
Therapeutic areas:

Antihypertensive    Cardiovascular

Target:

Ion Channels    Potassium channel    Calcium channel    Solute carrier family (SLC)    Transporters    Ion Pumps

Description:

Diazoxide is a potassium channel activator, which causes local relaxation in smooth muscle by increasing membrane permeability to potassium ions. This switches off voltage-gated calcium ion channels which inhibits the generation of an action potential.

Targets:ATP-sensitive inward rectifier potassium channel 11, Carbonic anhydrase 1, Carbonic anhydrase 2, Sodium/potassium-transporting ATPase subunit alpha-1, Calcium-activated potassium channel subunit alpha-1, Solute carrier family 12 member 3
