Biological activity

It belongs to next groups of Bioreference compounds:
Therapeutic areas:

Anti-cancer agents    Anti-Inflammatory

Target:

Enzymes    Lipoxygenases    Enzyme-Linked Receptors    Receptor protein serine/threonine kinases

Description:

Thymoquinone is a natural phytochemical with anti-inflammatory effects, blocking the synthesis of leukotrienes. It inhibits the growth of leukemia cells (IC50 = 1.5 μg/ml), inducing apoptosis by down-regulating the expression of Bcl-2 while up-regulating Bax expression.

Targets:Prostaglandin G/H synthase 2; Serine/threonine-protein kinase PLK1; Probable serine/threonine-protein kinase PLK; Serine/threonine-protein kinase Chk2; arachidonate 5-lipoxygenase;
